Their Past Our Future

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Funding from Media Box enabled Pulling Together to work with professional media artist, Sue Reddish to film a series of intergenerational stories.

Through Their Past Our Future project the young women learnt how to project manage, create story boards, gain skills in creative writing, learn filming, editing and screening.

The end of project celebration of Their Past Our Future Films took place on Friday 16th July 2010.
The 4 short films were created by the young women over a number of weeks using a number of techniques in video and animation. Music for the films was especially composed by freelance musician based in Stretford, Carol Donaldson.

Wish You Were Here

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

As part of the creative writing workshops celebrating National Year of Reading, Pulling Together members were asked to send a postcard from their favourite book. The questions asked were: I’m in … I feel … I met … I wish I’d packed … I want … The weather is … Today I will … When I get home I’ll ….  Below are just a selection of ‘postcards’ that include the autobiography of Cristiano Ronaldo; Jacqueline Wilson’s ‘Dustbin Babies’; ‘There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom’ by Louis Sachar, ‘The Casson Family Series’ by Hilary McKay and ‘The Outsiders’ by S E Hinton.

I am in Ronaldo’s Mansion
I feel happy and confused
I met Ronaldo and his family
The weather in his house is quite refreshing
I wish I’d packed a wedding dress
I want to marry him and have his kids
Today I will explore his past
When I get home I will go straight to my bed and dream about him

Polly Tuga - Avatar

Polly Tuga

Polly Tuga

Polly Tuga was created as an Avatar by the young women of Pulling Together. An ‘avatar’ is a computer user’s representation of himself or herself, whether in the form of a three-dimensional model used in computer games, a two-dimensional picture used on internet forums and other communities. However, the Sanskrit word Avatara means “the descent of God” or simply “incarnation.”
